1-How to get a free Adobe Creative Cloud plan as a photographer

The Adobe softwares are an essential for any photographer’s business so today I thought I’d tell you how you can get your hands on a free Adobe Creative Cloud plan, the fully legit way so you can up level your business and save quite a bit of money.

As a side note, I’ve been talking about photographers but I also want to mention that other creatives like videographers, illustrators and graphic designers are going to be able to take advantage of that plan as well. The way creatives can get their hands on one of these plans is to become a contributor at Adobe Stock: When you do so (and depending on your results) you will get a bonus from them.

On top of that, you’ll also get 33% commission on the sales and the possibility to make passive income every month.

Adobe Stock offering a bonus for its contributor isn’t a new thing but it’s changed slightly at the end of March 2020. In the past if you were a photographer or illustrator contributor and had 300 new assets (assets mean portfolio pieces) accepted in a year you would receive the Adobe photography plan.  If you were a footage contributor and you had 300 new clips approved in a year, you would get the Adobe Creative Cloud all apps plan.

But they’ve announced at the end of April that they’re going to change slightly how they’re calculating their bonuses. Instead of being based on the number of assets that are approved in your portfolio, the bonus will be based on the amount of time the assets in your portfolio are downloaded in a year.

Here are the new guidelines for the Contributor bonus:

  • 150-4999 download:  You will get your choice of either the photographer plan including Photoshop and lightroom or one of the apps: Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, or After Effects
  • 5000+ download: you’ll receive a one-year access to Creative Cloud All Apps (a 600$US /year value so that’s very exciting)
  • Each footage download will count for 8 downloads: that’s also a great way to boost your downloads very quickly.

I can expect that some readers will wonder if 5000 download a realistic goal and my answer is ABSOLUTELY! With a few thousand images or a few hundreds clips, you can easily get there. As an exemple, I’m already at over 2000 downloads just within the first three months of 2020 and twenty so I’m well under way to get Creative Cloud All Apps for 2021. ! Don’t forget that each downloaded clip is going to count as 8 downloads in that 5000 goal so that means that if you have 625 footage downloads, you are already there.

It’s also much easier than people think to shoot footage for stock agencies! Some helpful things to know is that you don’t need to record audio for Stock footage,  it needs to be completely silent so that’s one less challenging thing to worry about. Also, the duration of clips only need to be between 5-60 seconds: they can be very short and still be accepted and downloadable by clients.

That brings me to a few tips for photographers out there: the first step is to get started right now! Opening an account is really easy and you can also go see my other video where I talk about different stock agencies and where I mention that Adobe Stock is my absolute favorite agency. My next tip is to shoot content that will inspire you: if you really enjoy shooting that it’s much easier to add assets to your portfolio and create quality content that’s going to be downloaded for years to come. And finally, my last tip is to try shooting some footage: you’d be quite surprised to see how easy it can be to shoot and upload footage at Stock agency.
